Having vanquished numerous powerful adversaries, Dundubhi's arrogance grew, and he hungered for a worthy challenger who could match his strength and valour.

Intrigued by the whispers of a powerful Vanara ruler named Vali, the monkey king of Kishkindha, the god of the mountains decided to enlighten Dundubhi about the formidable opponent that Vali was said to be. Throughout the land, Vali's name resonated like a clarion call, evoking both awe and fear among those who knew of his exceptional prowess as a warrior and leader.

Eager to put his powers to the ultimate test, Dundubhi sent out a bold challenge to Vali, inviting the monkey king to engage in a battle of supremacy. The challenge reached Vali's ears, and he accepted it without hesitation, driven by his innate desire to prove himself as an indomitable force to be reckoned with.

On the appointed day, Vali and Dundubhi clashed on the battleground, their clash sending shockwaves through the very foundations of the earth. The skies echoed with thunder as these two titans engaged in a fierce struggle, each trying to outwit and overpower the other. For days, the relentless battle raged on, and the world watched in both awe and trepidation at the spectacle unfolding before them.

Vali, blessed with agility and strategic brilliance, proved to be a formidable adversary against Dundubhi's raw power. Unbeknownst to Vali, Dundubhi's blood, tainted with dark energy, cascaded down the mountains, flowing into the serene hermitage of the wise sage Matanga, who resided at Mount Rishyamuka. The sage, a devout protector of nature's sanctity, was devastated to witness his cherished trees wither and perish under the dark influence of the demon's blood.

Using his divine powers of insight, Sage Matanga swiftly traced the cause of the devastation back to Vali, the seemingly victorious monkey king. Consumed by a mix of anger and grief, the sage pronounced a potent curse upon Vali, decreeing that if he ever set foot on Mount Rishyamuka again, he would meet his end. This severe edict forced Vali into an unwanted exile from the sacred mountain, forever banished from a place he once held dear.

Tragedy, however, did not end with Dundubhi's defeat. The demon's son, Mayavi, learned of his father's demise and was consumed by a vengeful fury. Fueled by a burning desire for retribution, Mayavi relentlessly pursued Vali, seeking to avenge his fallen parent. But despite his determination, Mayavi's powers were no match for Vali's formidable army and tactical brilliance. Overwhelmed and fearing defeat, Mayavi sought refuge in a dark cave, hoping to escape his inevitable doom.

Vali, relentless in his pursuit of justice, followed Mayavi to the mouth of the cave, determined to confront him. Fearing for his brother's safety, he instructed his loyal brother, Sugriva, to wait outside while he faced the demon's son. Days turned into months, and months into years, with Vali failing to return from the cave.

Sugriva, waiting anxiously, yearned for his brother's triumphant homecoming, but fate had other plans. A year later, a gruesome sight greeted Sugriva's eyes. A stream of blood flowed from the mouth of the cave, and there was no sign of Vali. Overwhelmed with grief, Sugriva could only conclude that his beloved brother was no more. Heartbroken, he sealed the entrance of the cave with a massive stone, ensuring Mayavi's eternal imprisonment.

Sugriva returned to Kishkindha, and in the absence of Vali, the council of ministers crowned him as the new king, believing Vali to be lost forever. The kingdom rejoiced at their new ruler, but Sugriva's heart was heavy with sorrow and the weight of responsibility he never sought.

Meanwhile, Vali returned victorious to Kishkindha, unaware of the turn of events that had unfolded in his absence. His heart shattered upon discovering the perceived betrayal of his brother, and a tempest of anger and pain surged within him. Accusing Sugriva of treachery, he threatened to kill him if he did not leave the kingdom immediately. Terrified for his life, Sugriva fled to the forest, seeking solace far away from the brother he loved and the kingdom he never desired to rule.

This was the tragic tale of how Dundubhi, in seeking a worthy challenger, inadvertently became the catalyst of enmity between the once loyal brothers, Vali and Sugriva. A misinterpreted series of events, a twist of fate, and the burden of unforeseen curses plunged their bond into darkness, marking a tumultuous chapter in the annals of history.
